  Tournament NPC - Feedback/suggestions needed.

I am about to start working on a new NPC on the lobby. This NPC will allow players to setup their own tournaments, with their own prizes/rule sets.

Here's my current list of planned features, I'm posting this here first to get some feedback and to see if you guys would even want this, because it is going to be quite a bit of work coding and bug testing.

Current list of planned features

  • Players will be able to create their own tournaments(possibly for a fixed amount of coins, this fee will be returned if the match is canceled), in which they will be able to set the rules, just like in  a duel. These rules will dictate all matches in the tournament automatically.
  • Tournament hosts will also be able to drag their own weapons into a 'loadout' slot, inwhich the tournament will save a copy of that loadout, and all players in the tournament will have to use that loadout regardless of that they have equipped.
  • There will be two different modes when selecting rewards.
    • Standard mode - This mode will allow the host to deposit a certain number of items to distribute to the first, second and third place winners in the tournament separately. The winners will have their own 'reward' slots in the menu, so you can choose which place gets what.
      Do note that items you put in these slots WILL be removed from your Inventory and can not be returned unless the Tournament is canceled.
    • Pooled mode - This mode will allow the host to set an Entry Fee with no reward slots. Instead all of the coins used to enter the tourney will be divided up between the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners by the system.
  • The host will set the tournament start date(most likely with a minimum of 48 hours from the current time).
  • Tournaments will require the host to set a minimum and maximum number of players allowed to participate. If the number of entries does not reach the minimum by the starting date, the reward items or entry fees are returned to their rightful owners(host or entrees).
  • The system will automatically generate a bracket of matches, each of the matches will have a deadline they must be completed by. Players will need to both check in with the NPC and select the tournament they want to check into in order to start the match. If the deadline arrives and no players are checked in, that match will be canceled and both players will be DQ'd (and will not receive a refund), however, If one player is checked in, it will count as a win for them and a loss for the other player.
  • Random monthly tournaments, this will be generated by the system at random and contain some goodies for players to win. Possibly some unique stuff you can only obtain from this, the tournament however, will not start unless a decent number of people enter it(of course there will be an entry fee for this though, to help serve as a coin sink).
    This could also possibly generate some random rule sets to make things interesting.
I will add to this list as I receive more suggestions that I agree with

So what do you guys think of something like this? Would you like to see it? Or do you think it's a waste of development time for me to go through the effort of creating this? (If you vote no, please explain why or your vote may not be considered)

(inb4 finish hold 'em first. I hated working on Hold 'Em, which is why it is poorly done. I have a hard time getting things going if I'm not really enjoying what I'm doing. I would enjoy working on this though, even though it would be A HUGE amount of work)

Additions
•Added a new Primordial rune which allows you to Reset Enhancable weapons without losing your gained EP.
This is a lot more rare than the Rune of Restoration to help balance the two out.
•Added solution 2 and 4 mentioned in the Crouch jump thread.
These ones were added because they were the ones that would affect gameplay the least amount out of the top contenders in the poll.
Option 3 would drastically change how the game is played (a lot of people go for jump shots), and affect some quests. So That option is considered a last-resort if these changes are either not helping, or very disliked.
Here are the details:

  • Crouch jumping is disabled for 3 seconds after firing a weapon(some weapons may not be included in this at the moment).
  • Crouch jumping will be disabled for 10 seconds if you do it more than 4 times within a 1.5 seconds of eachother.

Please feel free to post your feedback on these changes, as these may stick around or may be removed entirely. I hope it helps provide a more fair experience for most people, and stops some from exploiting the buggy GMOD crouch jump mechanics to evade shots.

Changes
•Tidal crates have been re-balanced slightly.
•Several Godlike's rarities have been slightly increased.

  Railgun Sink

Now that railguns are about 3k each on a good day, I've thought of a suggestion to bring some love back to them.

You know how the Megaladon Rifle has a Blue mode (precision) and a Green mode (spray)?

Sacrificing a railgun to it should give it an all new mode, being red (railgun). You would get it by scoping in and holding r.


This may or may not make your megaladon untradable.

That may mean to make it tradable again you need to remove the railgun component losing it forever.

Or it may mean neither of those things

Well, as im sure a lot of people have noticed, it's really hard to win a dragon round when you can spam MOUSE2 for infinite explosive fireballs.
I think to make dragon rounds a little more fair, make it so that the fire spit recharges quicker, and the explosive fireball can be spammed, but after clicking it so much it goes into an "overheat mode" (i dont know what else to call it), where you cant use it for a while. That way spamming the explosive fireball is more penalizing that using it when needed.

Not to mention, does the Dragon's HP scale to players? Because it doesnt seem so xp

Changes

Orbital Rounds

  • Orbital Survival Round loot has been buffed, it's now more worthwhile to get first place. Plus the more people on, the better the rewards for the top player. Also the top ~10 get a 100% guaranteed gift package, the rest of the server has a 1 in 3 chance of getting one.
  • First place now has a bonus chance to receive an "Orbital Survival Round" token.
  • These rounds have been made more uncommon(1 in 50).

Bows
  • The load animation is now 50% faster
  • You can now hold the secondary attack button down to load/pull back and no longer have to re-click after loading.
  • The arrows velocity is now faster with slightly less drop.
  • You can now shoot arrows faster(with less power).
  • Added detection for when you shoot really close to something, so the arrow doesn't travel through it.
  • The crosshair now slightly fades out when at full pullback power.

Grim's Labyrinth
  • The cooldown is the same as losing (I did this a few days ago).
  • Morgoths chest loot has been buffed a bit.
  • Deathbringer's rarity has been increased slightly again.

Bug Fixes
•The comm jammer no longer allows you to hear T chat(UN TESTED).
•Hopefully fixed the deathball from the deathbringer sometimes dealing 0 damage when it should kill the person.
