How the hell have they managed to optimize Gmod so well? It's almost like they made Gmod a playable game.

*Cough* Brass pls figure it out and do it - this server will become #s 1 - 100 instantly */Cough*

80% of GMOD's FPS issues are with the maps it runs. Most maps are NOT optimized very well at all. Their maps are pretty well optimized, as they have very experienced map developers behind 'em. Hammer is pretty notorious for being a pain in the butt to work worth, and being hard to optimize properly with.

Yes. Let's play TTT on gmod tower's lobby!


Yeah though.

If you take one of TTT's maps that runs pretty poorly into sanbox, and enable sv_cheats, you can do mat_wireframe 1 to test optimization. If you see the entire map being rendered at all times, even though you shouldn't be able to see parts, It's not optimized well. (For instance, go into the FRG's event map, and do this. You will see parts of the map aren't rendered until you reach certain parts.)
