Trident the water melee already has the ability to let you jump around really far basically at will. Scylla wave is basically only good for meme kills or cutting off a very narrow hallway for a couple seconds.
Removing the wave self damage at least gives it use as a utility item to give you a short boost every 7 or so seconds with the cooldown. (It already works this way in events and boss rush and it makes the scylla way more fun in them.)
