HOW DO I GET 1000=2^x

MY TEXTBOOK SAYS X IS 10 WHEN ROUNDED.

1000 = 2^x
log(1000) = xlog(2)
3 = xlog(2)
3/log(2) = x
x = 9.966

log(10) = 10^1
2log(10) = log(100) = 10^2
3log(10) = log(1000) = 10^3
4log(10) = log(10000) = 10^4
etc.
