Is there a reason for this limit? Its a bit annoying. Also, it'd be great if you could put stuff into the trade window faster/snappier and accept quicker, too.

the accept button cooldown is a scam prevention as well as the removal cooldowns

It seems to be modeled after the old TF2 trading system tbh. I don't know if the limit of 8 is based on a binary system of 2^3 or it's just convenient. TF2 didn't escape this system until Steam trading came out, which introduced a new overlay and cross-game trading. Changing this now might require something of a similar overhaul to that.
