Rule 15

#1
We all know the overlooked rule 34 15:

*NO ADVERTISING! This is a video game. We don't want to hear about your website or what kind of deals McDonalds is having for the day and certainly not about another TTT server.

It's more of a meme than a rule.
I'm just suggesting for it to be removed, as it's not even taken seriously.
No point in having the rule on the list  if no one enforces it.

That rule is taken seriously. They actually kick/ban if they need to.

...? I enforce it literally every time I'm on. I report them so they're forced to see the message and know they have to change it.

Other staff should be enforcing it as well. Just because they're not enforcing a rule doesn't mean it should be removed.

What if a staff member was breaking the rule themselves? And they think it's a-okay because Brassx doesn't say anything against it?

Well the most severe form of advertising I'd say is advertising another TTT server in attempts to steal players from our player base, why would we ever want to allow that?? We just don't want the server cluttered with non-gameplay/frg related talk. That's one of the reasons the rule exists, although it's definitely one of the less serious rules (unless of course they are doing what I stated above).

Who is breaking said rule? And how so?

Awesome he advertises in his name for his gambling website. WE told him not to do it and he continued to say that you were fine with it and that it wasn't a big deal.

I made this post not wanting to point fingers at anyone. But I should've though that it was eventually going to happen.
Mainly because it sounds like I'm holding something against them.

The person breaking said rule I'm saying specifically is Awesome, promoting "skinsgambling.com" in his steam profile name.
What bugs me is that he's advertising a gambling website, which is illegal for individuals under the age of 18 in most countries.
Most of the FRG community, let alone the Garry's Mod community, I am definite are under the legal age to gamble.
Also considering a somewhat recent(?) scandal involving CS:GO gambling websites breaking the Steam Subscriber Agreement;

"You may not use Cheats, automation software (bots), mods, hacks, or any other unauthorized third-party software, to modify or automate any Subscription Marketplace process."

most sites similar to skinsgambling.com were shut down.

If I'm wrong with any this information, please tell me.

EDIT: Now I realize the stupidity of creating a topic to remove the rule, when the problem was just about a single person breaking the rule.
Rather, I should have made a private complaint or report. Sometimes I let me feelings get a hold of me. Welp. 2l8n0w.

Hmm I see. Yea a staff member shouldn't have that in their name while on FRG. I don't know the last time he had it in his name though.

One way to get around this without the drama is for me to just make a wrapper for the player's name function and auto-filter links from their name display. Easy fix. Perhaps if their name is nothing but a URL it will auto-kick them telling them to change their name or something along those lines.

While on the topic, is there anything else you guys would like to see auto-filtered from names? I have the system in place already to filter out some characters that can mess with some stuff, so it's not much harder for me to add other filters.
