What’s up epic Furrunner Gamers, Manegger Mousey here. As referenced many times in the last couple months Parade and I have been working very hard to update the rules to create a more fun environment on the servers.

These changes have been made based on feedback from players as well as staff members. It is very important to note that these changes are not set in stone and these are very much being put in place to see how it effects gameplay. We will be more than happy to change things around if we feel a majority of the player base agrees or disagrees with changes. We are trying to find a happy medium between loose enforcements of rules as we currently have and more rigid and simple to follow rules.

For any question regarding the revised rules feel free to PM Parade or myself, we aren’t perfect and did have some issues with wording and coming up with positive changes.

ALSO PLEASE NOTE THAT THESE CHANGES ARE NOT LIVE IN GAME YET. THEY WILL BE CHANGED IN GAME WHEN BRASS GETS A CHANCE TO DO SO.
SINCE SOME OF THE CHANGES ARE SMALL, STAFF MEMBERS HAVE BEEN INSTRUCTED TO BE MORE LENIENT WITH PUNISHMENTS FOR THE NEXT WEEK OR SO TO GIVE PLAYERS TIME TO ADJUST.

No Hacking/Exploiting

Any hacking on any server is not permitted Exploiting items, events, especially new content, must be reported. Abusing exploits is not allowed and is a bannable offense.

Map exploits such as exposed nodraw (invisible walls), areas that the mapmaker did not intend for players to go (out of speculation) is not allowed and you will be warned. Abusing map logic and props like door blocking are not allowed. Remember that each map has case-by-case rules.

3rd-party programs used for personal gain are not permitted.

Show Respect Towards Others

Show respect to fellow players as well as staff members.

Racism, malicious arguing, sexism, or any other sort of disrespect is never allowed. We do not allow harassment against players. If the player asks to stop, then stop. Report unwanted harassment and disrespect to a staff member.

We deal each situation case-by-case, not all cases will be dealt the same.

Do not argue with staff. Staff are chosen because they're believed to have an understanding of rules and are trusted. Each staff member has their own interpretation of the rules. Not every staff member will handle a situation the same, especially situations that fall under a gray area.

Staff members are only human and can make mistakes. If you think the staff member responsible handled a situation incorrectly, you may create a player complaint or report to a higher staff member. Consistent arguing can cause a mute by the staff member.

No Meta-Gaming

Meta-gaming is any strategy, action or method used in a game going against the game objective.

Helping an Innocent as a Traitor or helping a Traitor as an Innocent in any situation results in meta-gaming, this includes doing Traitorous map objectives as an Innocent. Purposely losing a team-based mini-game under any circumstance or helping the other team is not allowed. Going against the game objective to complete dailies or quests also counts as Meta-Gaming.

Do Not Delay

Letting the timer run out as a traitor can be considered delaying under most circumstances.

Camping a Traitor-room or refusing to attempt to kill innocents are examples of these and will get you slain. You can become at fault for running the clock and stalling the round for dead/spectating players.

No RDMing

Random Death Match is killing a player with lack of evidence or randomly killing a player.

Killing somebody based on suspicion, location, skin, weapon, or any other questionable means are not allowed on this server. You must have proof based on viable evidence.

You can use logic as long as it's built on in-game facts, not observations or drawn conclusions. This means you can KOS off of being one of only two people alive, or if only one person is not proven.

Attempting to RDM by dealing damage to a player is classified and treated as RDM. Leaving after committing an act of RDM is bannable.

Completing any sort of map objective as an Innocent that causes Traitors to win is treated as mass-RDM and meta-gaming.
As a traitor, you must warn Traitor-buddies of any quick actions that may endanger them. This includes discombobs, incendiaries, traitor traps, etc. This does NOT include items that have warning icons to other T’s such as C4's and Remote Bombs (unless you purposely placed this bomb to RDM)

Jumping into a gunfight with no evidence and selecting a player to kill is NOT permitted and will be treated as RDM.

Crossfire is not a slayable offence. A +Member or staff will decide if it's crossfire or intentional RDM.

Claiming

Claiming is no longer allowed.

Detectives Have No Authority

Detectives cannot force anybody to test or do anything unreasonable or strange.

Detectives are permitted to force you to drop a body to find DNA/evidence on.

If the Detective calls a player out as a Traitor, if that player was not a Traitor, it is considered RDM.

Making Reports

DO NOT create false reports/Use the report menu in a way unintended.

It wastes staff member’s time to create false or unhelpful reports.

CLEARLY explain what happened in the report. Death Scenes are not 100% accurate, so an explanation is needed in certain reports. Staff members are permitted to ignore reports that are unhelpful/insulting/non-sensical.

Do not argue with the staff member if the report is not handled in your favor. Show respect to whoever handled your report, and take it to a high staff member or report the issue on the forums if you believe a situation was handled incorrectly.

Do Not Kill AFKs

Killing an AFK is slayable, even if a report wasn't made.

AFKs will be put into spec mode automatically, killing AFKs simply to make a round end faster is not permitted. Traitors are allowed to kill AFKs. If the Traitor leaves a player unharmed, you may KOS off of association.

Door Spamming/Prop Blocking

Do not spam doors or prop block other players.

Doors, buttons, or anything else that can disrupt the flow of gameplay. Blocking off areas of the map, or trapping people somewhere by spamming doors, using props, or anything of the like is not allowed, and is slayable.

Logic

Destroying the T with FACTS AND LOGIC is allowed. NOTE: THESE RULES ARE STILL A WIP AND CAN BE VERY NUANCE. WE CANNOT THINK OF EVERY SINGLE SITUATION AND LIST IT HERE. RULES WILL BE ADDED AND REMOVED FROM HERE BASED ON NEW AND NICHE EVENTS WE COULDN’T THINK OF.

We allow using logic to KOS in some situations.

Ex. If a player quickly leaves a room with unidentified bodies, after sounds of gunfire was heard, you can assume that the player leaving could've been the one killing, thus giving the sense he is the Traitor.

You can use association in certain situations. Association is when a player is suspected to be helping a Traitor. The most frequent example is a player blatantly not attacking a called out Traitor.

Using items that gives different damage numbers against different roles is not kosable. KOS off radar is also not permitted.

Inventory Trading

No scamming/sharking.

Trying to persuade someone a trade is fair when it's not, trying to take advantage of newcomers, or anything else along these lines are not allowed.

If you're not sure on what a price potentially is, ask a member you trust for a general price on the item.

You are allowed to trade VIP features/items that require Rubies to players who cannot afford Rubies or the item.

Event Farming/Griefing

Farming or griefing events is not permitted.

This means going AFK to collect end of round drops or lengthen your time played on the servers. This also forbids use of click-bots or using exploits to avoid cooldowns or leeching in events.

Leeching can be defined as (but not limited to): Going AFK, dying intentionally, 'faking gameplay', etc, during TEAM BASED events, all with the intent of allowing teammates to do all the work, so you can get loot with minimal effort.

This should be a PER CASE basis, and drop bans will be the main source of punishment. Doing it often can lead to server bans, so DON'T DO IT!

Purposely sabotaging your teammates in PvE public events is considered event griefing. Punishments may lead to drop bans to server bans.

The new rule is as follows:

Quote:NO ITEM FARMING!
Such as, but not limited to:going AFK to collect end of round drops, or lengthen your time played on the servers. This is a permanent ban. This also applies to giving free kills for challenge scrolls/quests/dailies, etc.
This includes leeching in events. Moderators+ have been given access to the drop-ban command, and should use it to deal with leechers.

Racism Rule Reformation

Quick PSA to you guys regarding our "racism" rules:

Through various instances of rule violations, we've determined some(most) incidents of breaking said rule has not warranted a permanent ban, and as such, we will be making the "official punishment" for it a little more accurate.

While we still feel strongly that The N Word should still not be heard or seen on FRG's servers, the punishment for violating that rule should be based entirely regarding the situation it's involved with. Situations where it's said as an actual slip up, not intended to attack someone, or other 'harmless' examples should be reviewed separate from those that are with malicious intent (i.e using it as actual racism, attacking someone with it, joining new and spamming it).
Staff should analyze each situation as its own and determine what time frame seems just.

Here are some rough guidelines of about where things should line up:

First incident: Warning (please use the "response" command in your !menu to divulge the warning, that way the server can see it's been dealt with and there is confirmation it has been seen and acknowledged.)

Second incident: One week ban.

Third incident: Two week ban.

Fourth incident: One month, and please make Brassx or myself aware of it.

Causes for outlier punishments:

Intent

Time since last occurrence

Server rank (Member, Staff, etc.)

Posted here so it can be found and referenced easier.

Clearing up some misconceptions. (Handling your own reports as +mem or staff)

I have noticed lately, some people seem a little confused on whether or not +members, or moderators+ should handle their own RDM reports.

The answer is: Not usually.

There are special circumstances where you can handle your own reports, these are listed as follows:

When you are the only authorized rank to handle them on the server.

When you have direct permission from a higher ranking staff member to handle that specific report.

You were reported by someone, and you favor in their side(meaning you punish yourself).

Any other circumstances you should leave the report open for another +member or higher to take care of, this helps avoid any personal biases that may occur, whether consciously or unconsciously. It's best to avoid handling your own reports as much as you can(if you don't forgive the person or they don't forgive you).

This needs to be made clear - NO THIRD PARTY TRADING!

(similar to my post on a complaint over 3 months ago)
http://forerunnergaming.org/forums/showthread.php?tid=3753&page=3&highlight=outside+trading

I would not say it's ok, or advisable to offer USD, or anything outside of FRG for FRG items.

The old rule was:

Quote:NO THIRD PARTY TRADING! Trading items from our servers for IRL money or items outside the server is NOT supported in any way, shape or form. Anything that happens in 3rd party trades is 100% on you, and we are not liable for any losses that may happen from it.

However, we can not have anyone that represents FRG saying it's ok to do third party trades, there's complicated reasons behind it, but I'll list the main reasoning why I won't state I support it:

•It's unfair to other players who use in game items to make trades.
People can spend A LOT of time trying to work their way up to get an item they really want.
Taking shortcuts with outside sources is pretty unfair, and does not support the server, or the future of the server in any way.
Without your donations, FRG wouldn't stay alive as long. I would not be able to spend HOURS and HOURS of my life working on updates without the generous donations FRG receives. I know the perks aren't 'amazing'. But they are as fair as we can get without going full 'pay2win', but still having nice incentives to donate.

•Using real money is essentially the 'pay2win' module that you guys seem to hate so much, and like to complain so much about.
I don't know how you guys complain about donators spending money for the CHANCE to get something, when people can just spend money to buy what they want directly from another player. How do you guys see this as ok, and something that's fair?

With that logic, it should be fine and dandy for me to sell the items directly on the Donator store, as I definitely worked my butt off on a lot of them, correct? Nope. I would NEVER do something like that here on FRG.

So FRG's stances on third party trading is: DO NOT DO IT. YOU CAN, AND LIKELY WILL GET SCAMMED! It's unfair to other players(aside from the two involved, obviously). It's unfair to the server as a whole, and absolutely gives less incentive to donate to, and support FRG.

This is considered a fairly big offense for most, and Anyone promoting or using 3rd party trading will be punished by me directly.

If any staff or member of the server has been found to do OR attempt any third party trades post April 3rd 2016 they may be demoted, banned, Inventory wiped, trade banned, drop banned, or all of the above at my own discretion(meaning I choose exactly what I will do).

New rule wording:

Quote:NO THIRD PARTY TRADING! Trading items from our servers for IRL money or items outside the server is NOT supported OR allowed in any way, shape or form. Anything that happens in 3rd party trades is 100% on you, and we are not liable for any losses that may happen from it. Anyone caught promoting or doing 3rd party trading may be susceptible to punishments, at Brassx's Discretion.

Welcome to Forerunner Gaming!
Before playing on our servers you must read and understand the rules below.

1.)NO META GAMING!
Meta gaming is any strategy, action or method used in a game going against the game objective. Meta gaming is most simply defined as helping an innocent as a T or helping a T as an innocent.

2.)DELAY IS A SLAY!
Letting the timer run out as a T can be considered delaying, if you are camping in a T room that will get you slain. If you are the last T it is up to you to try and make a move. Camping as an innocent is not delaying.

3.)NO RDM!
Killing someone based on suspicion, location, gun, player model, or any other questionable means are not allowed on this server ever. You must have proof! Logical killing is not RDM. (For example, there are 3 players left alive, 1 is proven, all others have been identified. It is logical for the last non-proven innocent to kill the last traitor being the only two “unproven” left.) If you see someone look at an unidentified body and ignore it you may kill them. However, if they simply walk near it and may not have specifically aimed at it you have to ask them to identify it before killing them.

4.)NO TRAITOR BAITING!
Shooting near someone, trying to prop kill, pushing someone near a ledge or any other dangerous area, hitting someone with your melee or doing anything else traitorous is considered traitor baiting. If you are proven and have acquired a traitor weapon you MUST state so in either text chat or voice chat. It is preferred you state so in both to avoid confusion but one or the other is fine. If you are killed for any of these reasons it IS NOT RDM. ATTEMPTED RDM is still punishable.

5.)NO SPAMMING!
This includes both text and voice chat, as well as anything on the map that can make global sounds, or annoy the hell out of people.

6.)BE RESPECTFUL!
Racism, childish arguing, sexism, and any other disrespect are NEVER okay. Names should not include curse words, terms that affect gameplay or any other inappropriate content. You will be asked to change your name and then kicked!

7.)NO FARMING/BOOSTING!
Such as, but not limited to:going AFK to collect end of round drops, or lengthen your time played on the servers. This is a permanent ban. This also applies to giving free kills for challenge scrolls/quests/dailies, etc.

This includes leeching in events. Leeching can be defined as (but not limited to) : Going AFK, dying intentionally, 'faking gameplay', etc, all with the intent of allowing teammates to do all of the work, so you can get loot with minimal effort. This should be a PER CASE basis, and drop bans will be the main source of punishment. Doing it often can lead to server bans, so DON'T DO IT!

8.)NO SELLING UN-TRADEABLE ITEMS!
This can apply to a lot of things, but mainly it applies to cases/crates. You are not allowed to ask for payment to use or open an untradeable item that the buyer is unable to obtain otherwise.

9.)DO NOT KILL AFKS!
Our AFK system or a staff member will take care of that. If you believe someone is farming please make a player complaint on the forums.

<del>
10.)CLAIMING IS ALLOWED DURING OVERTIME!
Claiming is allowed ONLY during overtime. You may claim single rooms and they must not be a crucial part of the map. You MUST claim in text chat AND voice chat IF a microphone is present.
You do not need to state 'open door = kos'. This is implied by the original claim.</del> - No longer a rule.

11.)NO SCAMMING OR SHARKING!
Trying to persuade someone a trade is fair when it is not, trying to take advantage of newcomers, or anything else along these lines may lead to a ban or inventory wipe. This also applies to something like: Saying you'll give an item right back and running off with it is also scammed and will get you punished.

12.)NO EXPLOITING!
Getting under maps or in an area that is normally unreachable is not allowed! If you can see through a wall it is an exploit. Do not hack, glitch, or exploit in any way. This includes prop pushing, prop surfing to get to exploit spots, and door blocking. If you discover an exploit or bug please report it on our forums.

13.)NO GHOSTING!
Being in a third party program with friends is okay as long as you aren't affecting gameplay. This includes giving away player locations or saying who the traitors are. If you are caught ghosting you will be permanently banned.

14.)NO THIRD PARTY TRADING!

15.)NO ADVERTISING!
This is a video game. We don't want to hear about your website or what kind of deals McDonalds is having for the day and certainly not about another TTT server.

16.)NO HARASSMENT!
Following someone every round just because you don't like them is annoying and not allowed. If someone is following you and you don't want them to be, you may use the 3 warning rule. The 3 warning rule is when you type in chat or say aloud, "Stop following me, warning 1." You must wait 5 seconds and then say, "Stop following me, warning 2." 5 more seconds and then, "Stop following me, final warning!" After 5 more seconds if that person is still following you, you are allowed to kill them. The 3 warning rule can also be used for door blocking, prop blocking or anything else that may restrict your movement.

17.)NO SERVER THREATS!
Threatening to hack, DDOS, crash, or put the server at risk in any way is an INSTANT permanent ban.

18.)SPECIAL RULES!
Detectives can only claim in overtime just like everyone else. Detectives have no special privileges on this server because they already have tons of cool gadgets to play with. NOBODY can force you to be tested or kill you if you refuse EVER. Some maps, such as whitehouse, have special items that are KOSable for playing with. We simply cannot list them all here so if a staff member warns you about something, LISTEN TO THEM. Turning off the lights in different maps is NEVER KOSable.

Detectives can NOT claim health stations or KOS people for using them.

19.)AVOID ARGUING WITH STAFF!
Always listen to staff members. They have been approved as a TRUSTED staff member for a reason. Not every rule is stated in the rules so always listen to the trusted staff member. If you believe they are telling you to do something that is wrong you are encouraged to make a player complaint on the forums.

20.)NAME MUST BE PRONOUNCEABLE!
A players name should be pronounceable. In addition, the first 3 characters of a players name MUST be type-able letters or numbers.

21.)Destroying health stations is traitorous!
You can only destroy health stations if the detectives are dead OR you have direct permission to do so. Destroying them without that can be considered traitorous.

22.)You must warn T buddies of any quick-actions* you may make that may endanger them!
*quick meaning anything that could kill/harm them within a few seconds. (Incens, remote bombs, jihads, discombobs, use your brains.)
THIS DOES NOT APPLY TO C4! There's a display for C4's on every traitors screen if one is placed. If they die to one, it's their fault. This is literally even stated in the base code of TTT. It disabled losing karma to T buddies that die from your C4.
