Just a thot:
Maybe you could charge crystals with shards with something like 1 Shard = 100 charges in crystal.
Another option:
Shards charge crystals with something like 1 Shard = 99999 charges in a crystal.

Crystals are so easy to charge, spending 40k atm to have 10 fully charged crystals isn't worth it.
