People who don't use their desktop are silly. It's literally there to use. It's for quick access of programs and files you use often, so why not use it like it's meant to be used? If you just want to display some pictures. I have just the thing for you:

I put things on my taskbar that I use frequently, everything else I just press Windows Key then start typing the name of the program. Sometimes I rightclick the desktop, go to the view tab, and uncheck show icons.
Icons are just annoying to me because double clicking is stupid and also the fact it looks like garbage covering a picture with hundreds of tiny unrelated pictures.
But do how do you, it doesn't actually bother me
