The problem is, a lot of us can't find stuff like that. Quests are skill-based, so it gives a long-term, REACHABLE goal, not a 100% random, variable chance.

Special Shop Items: Maybe a unique item or two
Special Features: Maybe a random "deal of the day"
Merchant Quotes:
"I have just the thing for you"
"What do you think about these"
"You'll be the center of attention if you use my wares"
